Formation and Propagation of Cracks in Gel Phase Lipids
Formation of Worm-Like Micelles
The antimicrobial peptide PG-1 induces crack formation in gel phase lipids. This movie shows the formation and propagation of cracks in C15PC at 30°C while exposed to 15 μg/mL of PG-1 over a period of 61 minutes. The supported bilayer was visualized by atomic force microscopy.
A 7:3 DMPC:DMPG supported bilayer system in water, forms pores and worm-like micelles in the presence of the antimicrobial peptide, protegrin-1 (PG-1) at a concentration of 5 μg/mL. Atomic force microscopy was used to visualize the formation.
